Thrice-crowned MVP Nikola Jokic suffers a 'devastating' injury to his knee.
Triple NBA MVP Nikola Jokic endured a "gut-wrenching" injury to his knee when the Denver Nuggets lost 147-123 against the Heat.
Jokic injured himself towards the end of the second quarter during an unintentional collision with teammate Spencer Jones.
Jones landed on the footwear of the MVP, who promptly fell to the court clutching his knee.
The 30-year-old, who is leading the NBA season in rebounds and assists, had 21 points and eight dimes in the contest prior to suffering the injury.
The player is scheduled for an MRI on Tuesday to assess the seriousness of the injury.
"Immediately, he realized something was wrong," stated Denver coach Adelman.
"This happens in professional sports. Anyone that gets hurt, that's difficult, especially a player as talented as Jokic. We'll find out more on Tuesday."
"The team will adjust as a team. Obviously, right now, I'm more concerned primarily about Jokic personally and the disappointment of going through a situation of that nature."
