Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, even if the major clash won’t unfold until season 3, and a beloved, fan-favorite member has recently been selected.

The streaming service revealed Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece upcoming season’s lineup and will embody Mr. 2. This character can use their power to transform into an identical duplicate of any person they’ve touched with their dominant hand. The performer, who is non-binary and goes by they/them, will play a interpretation of that character reimagined as non-binary identifying, instead of as a drag queen, in the live-action series, unlike the original manga and anime.

Escola is joined by multiple recently announced actors who will portray the group to the screen, including chief the main antagonist, brought to life by the seasoned performer, a talented actress as a key member, and a familiar face, who will appear as the cast as King Nefertari Cobra of the desert kingdom.

Even though Bon Clay is a major member of the group, the persona won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Given the next season set to cover the Little Garden arc, this signals a notable change in the timing of their first appearance, one that could suggest further changes to the narrative framework.

The actor’s combination of sharp comedic timing and deep sensitivity makes them a ideal selection for the character. Along with their latest vocal work in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they received high praise and numerous honors for penning and acting in the popular theatrical show Oh Mary!, emphasizing the versatility they’ll bring to one of One Piece’s most celebrated roles.

The platform’s adapted One Piece series is due to premiere for its next installment on March 10th, 2026.
