Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Predictions

Arsenal's ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the international hiatus, but can the English top division frontrunners bounce back against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I feel like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham currently but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," remarked football specialist Chris Sutton.

"The Spurs manager will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their sparkling best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League fixtures this term, against artificial intelligence, fans and a range of guests.

In the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a United fan.

Murs' new album, Knees Up, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Experiences

Olly is a skilled footballer as well as a successful singer and has been a star of multiple charity football matches over time - but he is not intending a serious return as a player.

"{I recently played in a charity match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The team was trailing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can interpret that what you will!

"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too risky for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son chooses to play instead."

The singer and his wife his partner have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to follow in his father's footsteps by taking on the role of their coach.

"I won't force football on our kids but I've previously told Amelia that if they happen to get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will probably be coaching their weekend football side," he said.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly was involved with a football club for a period too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is probably where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had great fun with it. That could be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Premier League Forecasts

Weekend, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is now stronger with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this fixture will be fairly tight, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor defeats so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

It suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am actually going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's prediction: The Blues will be superior. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their past two games - although both of them were on the road - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which shocked me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those fixtures were at home, they do look competitive again.

West Ham's only on the road win this season came at Nottingham Forest in the summer, when their boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's coach.

Therefore, what on earth do I go with here - can West Ham continuing their run under Nuno, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose the Cherries, because I think what occurred against Aston Villa was a blip.

Sutton's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have improved under their boss. 2-2

AI's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Brentford were seen as one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have surprised a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four matches.

My son told me to get Bees striker Igor Thiago in my Fantasy Football team a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

The forward will probably score again on Saturday but I am nonetheless not going to select him or back the away side at Amex Stadium.

They have not had great success on the road this season, and the Seagulls are consistently decent at home. Brentford will try to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.

The analyst's prediction: 2-1

The singer's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many scores but it in reality turns out to be quite tight. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six games.

Fulham have got plenty of quality in their team but it nonetheless seems like they could be dragged into a relegation fight.

As for the Black Cats, indeed they are the unexpected success of the top flight season so far.

The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the Gunners like that this season, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.

The logical choice would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of disrupting Fulham up too and, the previous occasion they were in this part of London, they defeated the Blues at the close of October.

But I am not do that. Instead, I truly need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am claiming a lot of credit for their good results because they clearly love to prove me wrong.

Considering Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole team they have lost to is Arsenal. Marco Silva's team will be extremely eager for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will pick up three points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are doing well and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but Fulham have still been decent at home this campaign. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

It is a hard one to predict. The Reds have lost seven of their last ten matches in all competitions, but could they be among the sides who profit from the {international break|
