Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone close to the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any destruction is not yet known and the American officials has yet to issue a statement.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - all home to US military bases - said they have engaged and destroyed incoming projectiles in their air space.

In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the Al Udeid Air Base, the biggest US military installation in the region.

IRGC Statement

The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.

That US-Israeli operation - launched at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to rise up against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and successfully intercepted a number of missiles," it added.

Officials reported wreckage landed in a neighborhood in the capital, resulting in some structural damage and the death of one civilian.

The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
