Grief as Popular South African DJ Shot Dead in Johannesburg.
A popular South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a nation battling rampant crime.
Warrick Stock, widely recognized as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on a Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities reported the forty-year-old entertainer was approached by three suspects, with one began shooting at him before fleeing on foot.
The purpose behind the attack remains unclear and no arrests are in custody, police said.
The Fatal Incident
Law enforcement revealed that Stock was targeted as he was exiting a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had been present for hours at the site managing the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, as per local media.
"Authorities believe the victim was approached by three unknown suspects after he parked his car, and they began shooting at him before running from the location on foot," authorities confirmed.
CCTV footage reportedly captured a man with dreadlocks and clad in what looked like a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before fleeing.
The DJ tried to run away after he was wounded but fell down a short distance away.
Police added that Stock had an unused firearm and it was not a robbery during the incident.
