Former Doctor Charged with Assault Allegations Against 38 Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor has been charged with performing assaults against 38 individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
A senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a thorough and intricate police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the forty-five sexual offences comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
