Followers Demand Arrest of Person Who Seized Ariana Grande
Passionate supporters of the actress are urging that a individual who jumped a barrier and touched the celebrity during Thursday's Wicked: For Good launch be detained or removed from Singapore.
A widely shared video reveals the Australian man shoving aside camera operators and charging at Grande while the performers proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by onlookers.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly wrested the surprised performer away from Mr Wen, who was seen being removed of the premiere by security officers.
Mr Wen stated on Instagram recently that he was "free after being detained", though legal records showed that he was set to be present on the following morning. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Record of Disruptions
This is not an isolated incident for Mr Wen, who labels himself a "Notorious Troublemaker", has invaded a concert or event. His Instagram feed features recordings of him interrupting other star-studded functions, including jumping on stage at Katy Perry's Sydney performance in earlier this year and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers concert in the city last year.
"There needs to be action taken against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram user, in a message to a video Mr Wen shared of his behavior.
"Oh wow so you do this a lot... how aren't you in jail?" a different Instagram user questioned.
Fans Express Concern Over the Star's Safety
Many supporters accused Mr Wen for "triggering past anxiety" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing post-traumatic stress disorder after a devastating incident at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and injuring many.
"After everything she's faced... including the Manchester attack, you considered it entertaining to rush the barrier?" said another comment on Instagram.
Several supporters also questioned security officers at the Thursday event for not being vigilant enough; while different individuals requested online networks to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Event Details
In clips spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was approached by the individual. Her cast members Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by guards.
Grande has not commented on the situation, and the remaining proceedings carried on uninterrupted.
Many of attendees had assembled in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore mall, including several who had waited for as long as eight hours before it commenced.
The motion picture, to be launched on the 21st of November, is the second of a two-film adaptation of the well-known stage production Wicked, which focuses on the surprising bond between two very different sorceresses.
The show itself is a spin-off of the 1900 book The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who plays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was adorned in a light pink glittering gown at the event while Erivo, who plays the villainous character, wore a black tube gown featuring roses.
They were accompanied by cast member Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the most successful motion picture of the previous year in the UK, and scored ten Academy Award nods, securing a pair for excellent wardrobe and production design.
