Brian Eno Urges Public Help to Propel Palestinian Solidarity Track to UK Holiday Chart Peak.
A charity drive is aiming to propel a Palestinian lullaby to the peak of the festive singles chart. The effort aims to deliver assistance to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian artistic heritage.
A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He acknowledged the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a category of their own.”
Resilient Spirit of Freedom and Dignity
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“The song holds a deeply meaningful spot for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we want to live a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”
Production History and Featured Artists
The single was laid down following a major charity concert held in late summer. Initially planned to be captured during the live event, the piece was cut from the show due to the event running long.
The notable list of artists featured on Lullaby features a range of well-known figures from the music world. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a substantial amount for humanitarian aid.
Production and Release
Lullaby was produced by a group of music creators. The track blends a fusion of the traditional Arabic lyrics with new English lyrics.
The group managing the campaign have stated that their aim is to raise as much as possible for a charitable pot. These donations will be channeled to initiatives supporting Palestinians through an partnering humanitarian organization.
“There is no a specific target,” a figure commented. “We will pursue the maximum achievable. Obviously, the more the merrier. Every penny goes out to Gaza.”
The reality in the area was noted for its profound destruction, with a huge proportion of property described as destroyed or damaged.
“Given that reality, a couple of million won't make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is above all raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”
The song is set to be released at the end of the week. Additionally, a video of the benefit event will be made ready to watch on a popular streaming site from mid-December.
