Beloved Performer Pat Finn, Known For Roles in Friends and The Middle, Has Died at 60 Years Old.
US performer Finn, who was seen in beloved programs including "Friends", Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed aged 60.
The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in LA this Monday having undergone treatment for a cancer diagnosis since 2022, as reported by news outlets.
"Pat saw everyone as a friend - solely future friends he had yet to meet," his family said in a statement.
They noted that he had "lived his life fully - with zest and passion".
An Extensive Television Career
His debut TV appearance was in the George Wendt Show in 1995, where he appeared as the brother of the main character.
He also had a regular part on Murphy Brown between 1995 and 1997.
He appeared as Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, depicting a social organizer famous for delegating unpleasant chores to his guests.
During the late 1990s and early 2000s, he had guest spots on a variety of well-known programs, like:
- "King of Queens"
- "Friends"
- "That '70s Show"
- House, M.D.
He was most recognized for playing Bill Norwood in "The Middle", featuring across eight seasons over nearly a decade.
His film credits are "It's Complicated" and Santa Paws 2: The Santa Pups.
A Life in Improv
Outside of his television work, Finn was an improv performer and served as an educator at the University of Colorado, where he was an adjunct professor.
He was involved with a six-member improv team called Beer Shark Mice.
"Finn coached, befriended and mentored numerous pupils over the years and you'd be hard-pressed to find a person anywhere who has anything negative to say about him," his relatives stated.
In a tribute, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "not a more kind, gentle, or funny, down to earth person you could encounter".
"Consistently upbeat, making those around him better and funnier. A great dad, a great guy," Kind wrote publicly.
Finn is survived by his spouse Donna, three children, and his mother, father, and brothers/sisters.
